A BRIEF HISTORY
In the summer of 1920, a small group of tennis enthusiasts from Northeast Philadelphia rented a plot of ground at ‘D’ Street and Wyoming Avenue. Two courts were constructed at that location. A few years later that property was sold and a new site with two courts was opened at Roosevelt Boulevard and Rhawn Street. After several years of renting, it was decided to find a location for a member-owned site. On June14, 1926, the current site was purchased, and three courts and a clubhouse were subsequently constructed. The first open house was held on July 20, 1929.
